Beale Memorial Baptist Church was organized on October 30th in 1875. For three years, the congregation met at the building that now houses, Modern Cleaners. The church was known as Centennial Baptist Church at that time. The founding pastor was Frank Browning Beale and he served for over 40 years. For his devoted service, the church honored him by renaming itself, Beale Memorial Baptist Church.
In 1878 the congregation purchased the old Essex County Courthouse and made that their home for 129 years. In 2007 the congregation moved once again to a new campus that is one mile north of town on Rt 17.
Beale Memorial Baptist Church has a long history of stability. In the 1930’s Bernard Mullin’s began his ministry at Beale. He served as pastor for 24 years. He was followed by Tom Brown. Reverend Brown served as pastor for 9 years. In the mid 70’s Bob McKinley was called as pastor and he served here until his retirement in 2005. David Donahue began his ministry in August of 2005.
Beale Memorial Baptist Church is a growing, mission minded gathering of people. We love to worship, to serve one another and the community, grow in discipleship, and fellowship together.
