Next weekend, our church is going to be packed with people. Lots of time and energy have been invested for our Easter eggstravaganza. Today we completed the filling of 13,000 eggs for the community event. Our goal is to share the Gospel in a practical way.
Plans to start the event are at 1:00 on Saturday, April 11th. We will have a carnival, food, games and as mentioned before...lots of eggs for the children to find!
Final touches will begin Friday night and conclude Saturday morning. If you would like to help with set up, plan to be here around ten to set up games and such.
Once again, this is a free event to the community. It is our way of saying God loves you and so do we.
Leslie Smith has been attending Beale for the past two years. Capt. Smith is employed at Dahlgren and she is also an active voice for wounded veterans. I have detailed her story in previous posts, so I won't go there now.
However, I do want to share something with you that she had the opportunity to be a part of last month.
On March 9th, a gathering was held at the Ronald Reagan library to honor Medal of Honor recipients. Ms. Smith was a guest there and you will see two photos of her posted below. In the first, she is with General David Petraeus and the second with Gary Sinise, Tom Selleck, Jon Voight and Craig T. Nelson.
However, before the images, the text of Gen. Petraeus speech is a must read.
Dr. Shadrach Meshach Lockeridge was the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego, CA for almost 50 years. During his ministry he was heavily involved in the civil rights movement. He is most known for one sermon that he preached, entitled, "That's My King." Below is a clip of this message.
Philippians 2:14-16 (NIV) Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life--
