The women's conference that is taking place at Beale this weekend is just about over. The conference attracted about 200 ladies from across our region and was organized by Mae Schools of Fairport Baptist Church. This was the first time our church has been able to host the event and here are a few images from Friday night.
Over the past couple of years, a musical group has come to visit us a number of times here in Tappahannock. They are the “Sons of the Father,” based out of West Frankfort , IL .
During their visits with us over the past two years they have grown to love this area, congregation and people connected with our church. It probably doesn’t hurt that they love seafood and that Lowery’s restaurant is so close and so good. Plus, Marian Bareford cooks them some of the best fried oysters you ever want to taste….but I digress.
When we moved into our new building last year, Brent had written a song for our church. He didn’t have it ready to play for us on our move in date, but he arranged for Gil Whittington to play it one Sunday a few weeks later. I don’t think you were fully aware that this song was written for us and dedicated to the Lord by Brent, Chris and Les.
This Sunday our praise team will be leading in worship. When they led in worship last month, they sang this song. It is a familiar song, but has a slight twist. The video below shows the writer, Chris Tomlin singing the song as it was presented at at Passion 2007.
Philippians 2:14-16 (NIV) Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life--
