"I willl lift up mine eyes unto the hills."

Last Saturday was a tough day for the family of Estelle Sayre.  Estelle went on to be with the Lord after two years of constant health problems.  Her family and friends were amazing in their faithful care of Estelle.  Mary from the Orchard was an angel in disguise as she provided daily help to Estelle.

As we stood by Estelle's graveside, there was much mourning because we were only seeing a shadow of what this life offers.  One of the texts that I used in the funeral is found below:  It acknowledges God's grace in difficult days.  Psalm 121 is known as a Psalm of Ascent.  It was quoted by pilgrims as they ascended into Jerusalem in preparation for Passover or one of the many worship events at the Temple.

As you read this, consider that Jesus may have quoted this as He entered into Jerusalem during Holy Week.

I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you-- the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
                                                                                     Psalm 121:1-8 (NIV)

Veronica rode with me to Mt.Crawford for Mrs. Sayre's funeral.  The trip home was a glorious drive.  The sun was a amazing and views were just breath-taking.  I have posted a few to remind us of another promise of God.  This one comes from the hand of Paul and is found in 1 Corinthians 2:9:

However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"

I Can Only Imagine

Today we concluded our series on, "The Numbers of Hope."  The message today was focused on two words from John 3:16:  perish and life.  The following video clip was made a number of years ago when Mercy Me's song, "I Can Only Imagine" was so popular.

I think you will enjoy it again.
