It has been a while since my last post. Yikes!!! Here are a few images of what is happening with AWANA on Sunday nights. We have now met for four weeks and our attendance has fluctuated a bit. We have run between 44 and 68 people at these events.
The children are really enjoying their time with us. They love the game time and our volunteers are doing a great job. Many of the students have finished their first book of memorization. All in all, it has been a great start and we look forward to more of the same as the year progresses.
Leslie S sent me a copy of this today. It is a prayer offered by Max Lucado referencing the current financial mess we are now facing. If you are attending our worship services on Sundays, you know that we are in the "Numbers of Hope, 3:16" campaign. That book was also authored by Lucado.
Here is the prayer:
You Have Our Attention, Lord A prayer by Max Lucado - October 2008
A friend recommended the following video.Take two minutes to watch it and then consider the following:
* What does a church need to change in order to remain effective in our culture?
*What must never change within a church?
*How has Beale Memorial changed through the years?
*What scares you about change within church?
*Do you know churches like the one represented in the video?
One huge accolade that must be given to our church is the willingness to make changes. In just the past few years you have changed or added:
·Pastors (and after 30 years, that was not easy!)
·Voted to relocate to an entire new location (another difficult step.)
·Built a gorgeous new campus (we won’t even talk about the challenges here!)
·Developed a praise team.
·Advanced the use of technology in worship.
·Brought in two families from the Katrina disaster.
·Started AWANA
·A community wide Easter Egg Hunt
·A living drama of the Passion.
·And the list goes on….
With that said, as the pastor of this church, let me say a hearty, THANK YOU!Thank you for your willingness to try new things, to step out in faith, to do whatever it takes to advance the Redeemer’s Kingdom in this area.Blessings.
Philippians 2:14-16 (NIV) Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life--
