Last year our church found itself watching a national disaster unfold. We watched our televisions as scenes of unbelievable destruction were unleashed on the Gulf Coast of our country. Many of us wanted to travel there to help, but were unable. Philip Taliaferro was able to make the journey and his report was amazing. Our state denomination became involved with a relocation project and our opportunity for ministry presented itself at that time. Just twelve months ago we welcomed two families to our church and community. Much money, labor and love was invested in this project. The following link will take you to a story from the Sun sentinel regarding similar opportunities to serve. Take time to read this article and reflect on the labor of mercy we were a part of last year. As a side note, Juanita Allen's son, Wayne is planning a construction relief trip to the Gulf Coast in the next several months. He will be taking a group of firemen from Henrico. If you have any interest in going, send me an email and we will get the information to you as it becomes available. Click hear to view some pictures of the Katrina relief effort.
