We are two days out from Christmas. Most of the church’s events have taken place except for our Christmas Eve service at 6:00 tomorrow.I wanted to post a few images of events we have been a part of at church and around the community.Enjoy!
This is a miracle. We have prayed for RIchard B for many, many years both before and after his car accident. On Sunday when he and his family came forward to join our church, I believe the angels rejoiced. We will be baptizing Richard this summer.
Some of you may be aware that Texas Stadium in Irving, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, will be closing this year. In fact, Saturday's game against Baltimore will be the last game at the stadium. The Cowboys are moving to a new home in Arlington that JJ has built for well over a billion dollars (that is a subject for another post.)
Cowboy fans are starting to ponder the closing of the venerated (or maligned) Texas Stadium. A buddy sent me the following article from ESPN.com Frank Luksa, a columnist for the Dallas Morning News is the author.
Redskin fans, please note, your team is featured in the first two memories.
Today concluded a year long ministry project. 372 Essex county children received Christmas bags this morning. We have a few more that will be distributed before Christmas that should put our total right around 400.
People were lining up outside the church before 8:00 this morning and the last family left around noon. It was a good day inspite of the rain. We had plenty of volunteers to help and all went very well.
Here is a two minute clip with a few of our volunteers. Turn your volume all the way up or you will not be able to hear them. Following the clip, there are a few images of the day.
During our worship time yesterday (12-14-08) the praise team sang a new song. It is by the group, Casting Crowns and the song is 'God Is With Us.' Jojo and Rebecca McKinley did a great job with this song. They will be singing it again at our candlelight service on the 24th.
Here is a You Tube video of the song. Basically, it is the music with only one picture. Not a great video, but the music is wonderful. Following that is a second live video from Casting Crowns doing their song,'I Heard the Bells.'
The second day of our Christmas distribution began at 8:00 this morning as folks began arriving to sort and organize the toys. Tables are spread out across the fellowship hall with the age and gender of the child that will receive those specific gifts. Volunteers then begin to fill the bags with the toys for the child in that age group and gender.
The following video gives you an idea of the size and scope of this ministry.
Philippians 2:14-16 (NIV) Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life--
