Monday Morning Update
Written by Pastor David Donahue
Monday, 26 February 2007
Do hope you all are doing well and having a great start to the week.  I have a couple of items to share with you today…
  1. Gil Whittington lost his mother last weekend.  She died on Saturday morning after a stroke.  She will be buried in Amelia on Wednesday afternoon.  Please keep Gil and Rosemary in your thoughts and prayers at this time.
  2. Most of you know that Augusta Wilkerson passed this past weekend as well.  She had not been to church in some time due to health, but she was a faithful member for many, many years.
  3. Larry Lind will be returning to his church in AZ next Monday to help them through a crisis.  He will be gone for about a month.  Please keep Larry and Judi in your prayers as we pray for God’s strength and wisdom to deal with a difficult situation.

 Calendar Items for March….

March 2-4 Kingdom Kids Weekend.  This event is open to all kids up through 7th grade.  We will start on Friday night with a pizza party and kidz worship time.  Parents, you are welcome to stay and participate or be back by 9:00.  Saturday, from 1:00 till 4:00 we will be at Riverside fitness for games, swimming and tons of fun.  On Sunday we will have our regular events, but will be sending the kids with our guest leaders for Kidz Worship after the children’s message.

March 10th         Youth Ski trip.  Youth, if you are interested Jeff is taking a group to Masanutten on Saturday.  Contact Jeff if interested….

March 23rd            I can’t believe I am posting this….but there will be a Lock-In at church on Friday night for students through 7th grade.  We will start at 7 and be totally over by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.  Contact Kay Carlton for more info.

Some if you have sent me emails relating to the new program that the Discovery Channel will be showing.  It is related to a discovery of a tomb and ten coffins in Jerusalem.  One of which they claim is the coffin of Jesus.  James Cameron is the producer of this affair and he being of “Titanic” fame.  Here is a link you might want to read here

Two points of note you really need to consider:

1.       The archeologist who discovered the tombs is on record as being totally opposed to Cameron’s conclusions.

2.       We are in the season of Lent.  This is prime time for the bashing of sacred Christian doctrines. In other words, consider the source and the timing of the release.

Take care and talk with you all soon.

Blessings, David
