Music Ministry

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and instruct each other with all wisdom.
Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; sing to God, with Thanksgiving in your hearts.”
Colossians 3:16

Preschool Choir

Wednesdays, 6:15-7:00pm
Our goal is to start loving music at a young age. We will learn how to sing, play rhythm instruments, and other early skills of musicianship. We also will learn how to use music to worship God.
Children’s Choir on Palm Sunday 2011

Elementary Choir

Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm
The Elementary Choir is for grades 1-6. At this age the children are learning or already know how to read – this gives us a wonderful opportunity to learn how to read music at the same time! We will learn how to read notes and rhythms out of the hymnal and other pieces of music. We will also learn how to use our singing voices and play rhythm instruments. Most importantly, we will be learning how to use our musical skills to worship God.

Adult Choir

Christmas Cantata 2011 The Mystery and the Majesty

Wednesdays, 7:15-8:30pm
Our Adult Choir meets throughout the year to prepare anthems for worship on a weekly basis. We often prepare for one cantata each year at either Christmas or Easter. Anyone that can sing is welcome to join the choir!

Praise Team

Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00pm
Our Praise Team leads worship several times during the year. The music style varies from contemporary to gospel and hymns to praise choruses. Each person brings a uniqueness to the team. We have had a banjo, harmonica, violin, piano, guitar, and drums. If interested in participating, contact the associate pastor of music.

Handbell Choir

Sundays, 7:00-8:00pm
Our Handbell Choir consists of 9-12 people for our three-octave set. We prepare music throughout the year, and often play for special occasions within the church year. Currently, we have a variety from beginners to others that have played for years.

Music Camp

Music Camp 2010

Music Camp 2010 Morning Celebration

Each year the Virginia Baptist Mission Board facilitates a Music and Worship Arts Camp held at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg, VA. Beale Memorial participated in this camp for the first time in the summer of 2010. Last year’s theme was “It’s So Easy” (Even a caveman can do it!). This year the theme will be “Rock, Paper Scissors.” This camp is a wonderful opportunity to have fun learning about music!
